The Occupational Health and Safety Manager - Airports is responsible for ensuring the Airports branch is compliant with the Canada Labour Code Part 2, the Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, and relevant aspects of Air Canada Publications including Pub 5. The Occupational Health and Safety Manager will also gather, analyse and communicate injury data to airport management regarding trends. They will also take on a leadership role by providing guidance to the Airports management team with the development and implementation of the injury reduction programs.
- Participate in local health and safety committees, and where applicable, chair policy committee for the branch to ensure they are compliant with the Canada Labour Code Part 2, the Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. Act as the branch subject matter expert for all Occupational Health and Safety matters
- Manage injury reporting performance for all injury reports submitted to ensure quality of content, root cause and corrective actions as well as ensuring all reports are submitted to the regulator within the appropriate time frame
- Participate in the Airport investigation of significant employee injuries to identify root cause, develop effective corrective actions with means to monitor effectiveness.
- Collect and analyse injury data for the branch and provide recommendations
- Develop root cause driven reports for all departments and work locations within the branch
- Work with the stations as well as health and safety committees by developing and implementing injury reduction programs targeting specific root causes and provide guidance and coaching to ensure the programs are effective.
- Identify areas of risk and perform Occupational Safety related risk assessments for the branch
- Participate, coordinate and support stations to complete risk assessments as required and ensure all Occupational Safety Risk Assessments are documented in WEBOHS and Sims
- Build relationships with all internal stakeholders in order to garner and provide support for safety initiatives
- Manage the Hazard Prevention Program on an ongoing basis, identify areas of risk and recommend solutions to the health and safety committees.
- Manage Occupational Safety Hazard reports in Sims for the branch
- Prepare Occupational Safety reports as required for weekly, monthly, quaterly and annual meetings as required
- Lead Occupational Safety related initiatives for the branch, Partners in Injury Reduction, NAOSH etc.
Qualifications
- Previous operational experience as a station attendant/ lead station attendant/Customer Sales and Service Agent/Lead Customer Sales and Service Agent
- Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code Part 2, the Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and/or experience with Health and Safety Committees would be an asset
- Able to work occasionally during nights and weekends. Occasional travel.
- University degree and/or formal training in Health and Safety, risk management preferred
