The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure under the immediate supervision of the Project Manager, the Draftsperson provides various technical document services to internal departments and external stakeholders. The role is responsible for providing high quality technical documents supporting services to WAA departments using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD).

Responsibilities include:
  • Preparation of construction, planning, operational, leasing and land development drawings, and graphics;
  • Maintaining and validating airport site and building drawing data bases in support of infrastructure, new projects, maintenance, space planning, real estate, and land development;
  • Receive, catalogue, store/file and retrieval of hard and softcopy drawings/documentation; and
  • CAD (Computer Aided Drafting).
Selection Criteria include:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a drafting/CAD operating environment;
  • Required 2 year accredited technical diploma in Municipal/CAD or Geomatics/CAD Technology program;
  • Must be eligible for certification with CTTAM;
  • Proficiency in CAD using AutoCAD 2017 or later versions. Ability to perform with skill, precision and
  • Experience with coordinate systems and coordinate transformations;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Pro;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Self-motivated to work independently and within a team in a fast paced, constantly changing
  • Outstanding analytical and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to learn and look for continuous improvement in methods, software and processes;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Proven problem solving abilities;
  • Knowledge of total station and GPS survey data processing would be an asset; and
  • Geographic Information Systems, AutoCAD Civil, AutoTurn and AeroTurn experience would be an asset
Condition of employment is the ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card.
