Job Summary
The Operations Assistant is responsible for ensuring the on-time departure of all flights from YPL –Pickle Lake. This will be accomplished by coordinating personnel and resources in conjunction with SOCC.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate resources surrounding On Time departure of aircraft
- Liaise with SOCC for accurate information on arriving/departing aircraft
- Direct phone calls
- Coordinate with cargo to ensure freight receivers are called
- Arrange de-icing as required
- Coordinate fuel deliveries
- Relaying weather and operational information to flight crew
- Prioritize loading duties to direct and assist ramp staff
- Collect and assign accurate On Time Performance codes
- Check in arriving and departing guests as required
- Any other related duties as assigned
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Skills and Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-4 years previous airline Operations experience or an equivalent combination of related post-secondary education and work experience
Skills/Abilities:
- Must be a self-starter with proven ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must have excellent organizational skills
- Excellent computer skills, MS-Office preferable and proficient in use of internet and email
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Able to work well under pressure
- Flexible, able to deal with change
- Strong attention to detail
- Very organized, with excellent multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Assets:
- Ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway
- Previous shipping and receiving experience is an asset
- Knowledge of filling out waybills is an asset
Accommodations/Working Conditions:
• Rotational 2 weeks on/2 weeks off
• Food and accommodations are provided
• Transportation to and from Thunder Bay to Pickle Lake provided (If needed)
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Ability to lift or move up to 20lbs
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computer and peripherals
- Overtime as required
- Weekend work may be required
- Some travel may be required
