The
Vancouver Airport Authority has openings for two permanent, full-time Managers,
Airport Terminal Projects in the Engineering Projects Department.
The
successful candidates will be responsible for managing, planning, developing and
implementing airport terminal capital projects including:
· Planning, studying and preparing the 10-year
Airport Terminal Capital Plan, 3-year Airport Terminal Capital Plan and annual
airport terminal capital budget in response to airport requirements for terminal
facilities through liaison with airlines, NAV Canada, Transport Canada, YVR
Operations and other affected stakeholders
· Developing detailed requirements, conceptual
designs, cost estimates, schedules and recommendations based on sound business
principles in order to prepare Project Definition Reports (PDR) and Project
Appropriation Requests (PAR) for senior management and board approvals of
airport terminal capital projects
· Managing the implementation of projects
including:
o Selecting consultantso Developing time, cost and quality control plans
o Reviewing technical design
o Ensuring Airport Safety and Security are fully incorporated
o Ensuring competitive tendering
o Maintaining projects on budget and within scope
o Monitoring progress of construction
o Taking corrective action when established time, cost and quality do not meet YVR requirements
o Reviewing and approving all progress payment claims
o Reviewing change orders
o Accepting completed work
o Facilitating commissioning and turnover of completed work to YVR Maintenance and Operations
· Managing support staff assigned to projects which includes: monitoring work and performance; recommending training; and determining future staffing requirements for the airport terminal capital projects
· Maintaining currency in project management and construction practices, aviation industry developments and airport terminal requirements
Key qualifications include:
· Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from a
recognized university
· Registered as a Professional Engineer in the
Province of British Columbia· At least 10 years’ experience managing projects, with demonstrated experience managing at least one major project of $10 million in value or greater
· Proven experience managing a project team with three to five staff
· Proficiency in the English language with respect to report writing and giving oral presentations
