Responsibilities
- Oversee daily warehouse activities including: Filling and shipping customer orders, ensuring accuracy of shipments and supporting documentation, receiving and routing incoming inventory, ensuring inventory transactions are accurately logged and overseeing cycle counts and reconciliation activities.
- Complete operational objectives by scheduling and assigning employees and monitoring work results.
- Achieve warehouse team results utilizing effective management skills and strategies.
- Interpret company policies and ensure employees are in compliance.
- Measure and report the effectiveness of the department activities.
- Comply with warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with ERP system, and planning for future capacity requirements.
- Maintain physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing effective design layouts.
- Maintain maintenance program for warehouse tools and equipment.
- Contribute to the achievement of branch financial objectives by monitoring expenditure, analyzing variances and implementing corrective action.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies to maintain an effective level of customer service.
- Coordinate the effective use of the ERP system within the warehouse.
- Develop and maintain departmental work instructions for all tasks.
Skills and Experience:
- Post-secondary education in inventory and logistics management and five or more years of relevant warehouse experience including three years of supervisory experience.
- Ability to read and understand documents pertaining to regulations, safety requirements, and procedures.
- Ability to make calculations such as discounts, freight estimates, dimensional weight, invoices, and percentages.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and their applicability within a distribution environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
