Navtech Inc. is currently recuriting a full time Flight Planning Systems Database Analyst to be located in Waterloo, Ontario.
Summary
The Flight Planning Systems Database Analyst is responsible for updating the navigation database for Navtech’s Flight Planning product to include airports, NAVAIDs, airways, procedures, NOTAMs, Rules and Restrictions. This position is also responsible for customer support queries, both internal and external.
Responsibilities
• Maintain navigation database on a monthly basis to ensure changes introduced by state authorities are up-to-date
• Maintain application databases in the following areas;
o Airports
o Waypoints
o Routes – Preferred (agency) and Customer
o SID/STAR/Entry/Exit procedures
o Communications
o Airspace boundaries
o Airways (including restrictions, flight level codes, and direct legs)
• Maintain the NOTAM system
o Manually update NOTAM database as required on a daily basis
o Complete quality audits of NOTAMs processed by peers on a daily basis
o Provide internal training on the NOTAM maintenance process as required
• Maintain the Route Restrictions database
o Review and update rules based on RAD annexes as required
o Conduct daily updates based on NOTAM reports
o Identify rules/restrictions that will require new language to be introduced to the NFP rules database
o Coordinate/Liaise with other departments as required to ensure rules and restrictions as presented in RAD can be handled by Navtech’s applications
• Maintain the internal procedures library in hardcopy form as derived from the master AIP library
• Manage customer requests and support as it relates to the navigational database used by the flight planning systems with thoroughness and to the customer’s satisfaction.
• Prepare for upcoming AIRAC activities
Academic/Educational Requirements:
• Associates degree/diploma in aviation or geography
• Must have Commercial Pilot’s License or an Aircraft Dispatcher Certification
• Previous experience in Commercial Flight Operations as a pilot (A &P Certificate), Aircraft Dispatcher (Certified), Operations Controller or equivalent is an asset
Required Skills/Experience
• Must work effectively with others in a team environment as well as work independently with little supervision, depending on the task at hand
• Minimum 2 years experience in the aviation industry (operations preferred)
• Must successfully complete and pass a written exam to prove competency in abilities to analyze and interpret Navigational data.
• Able to decode and understand aviation weather and NOTAMs
• Effective interpersonal skills; adaptable to all levels of the organization
• Demonstrate computer proficiency: familiar with MS Office applications,
• Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal)
• Strong time management and organizational skill
• Working knowledge of aviation charts and approach plates
