Officer, Community Relations, Toronto Pearson Employee Community - (13-SDSR-001)

Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Community Programs and Stakeholder Relations within the Strategy Development and Stakeholders Relations Department, this position will play a role in making the 40,000 people who work at Toronto Pearson excited to be part of the Toronto Pearson community by implementing a targeted community relations program. The Toronto Pearson Employee Community (TPEC) Engagement Plan is designed to develop strong and effective relationships with groups across the airport (airport tenants, retailers, airlines, government agencies, etc.) to enhance awareness, participation and pride in being a member of the Toronto Pearson Community. Having this support is critical to achieving our corporate vision to become the best airport in the world.

Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
• Lead the implementation of Toronto Pearson Employee Community (TPEC) Engagement Plan, designed to develop strong and effective relationships with TPEC
• Oversee the coordination and execution of airport-wide consultations, liaison/working groups, educational programs, town halls, focus groups, launching the TPEC web portal and other engagement initiatives
• Partner with communications team to develop and implement integrated strategies including supporting and advising on rollout of airport-wide communication campaigns and assisting in messaging and collateral development for TPEC audiences
• Provide support to externally focused special events (i.e. Runway Run, Toronto Pearson Street Festival) and bring the TPEC voice to the planning, in collaboration with Community Programs Tours & Events Officers, as required
• Provide support to the Toronto Pearson Community Investment Program, including researching, reviewing and analyzing sponsorship and donations requests and commitments, providing resource and secretariat function, and making recommendations to Manager to ensure alignment across organizations


Job Requirements
Qualifications:
• Must possess a Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma, with experience in Communications, Event Management or Public Relations preferred
• Demonstrated experience in a Customer Centric organization, familiar with Customer Experience models
• Minimum of 1 years’ experience writing for a variety of audiences, using a number of channels, and demonstrating superior writing and editing skills
• Experience in developing communications and engagement events for a diversity of audiences
• Must possess a valid Provincial Driver’s License (Class G)
• Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to think on feet to build relationships, interact and influence others
• Maintain a positive, flexible and responsive attitude, professional image and team-oriented style
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Knowledge of public participation and engagement techniques, familiarity with IAP2 spectrum of public participation, and proven capacity to stay on top of industry trends
• Good knowledge of issues management
• Social Media savvy
• Good working knowledge of modern communication techniques, as well as desktop publishing, word-processing and web-authoring applications, and third party tools such as Mailchimp and Wufoo
• Good organizational, research, planning and project management skills
• Ability to drive to completion using critical thinking and problem solving skills
