Hawk Air Aviation, Quality Assurance Manager / Planner, Terrace B.C.

Overview:
The QA Manager / Planning position will largely consist of three main areas of responsibilities, QA Manager, SMS coordinator for maintenance, and planning and production roles. Within this position delegated by the Accountable Executive you will work directly with the Director of Maintenance and the SMS Manager to maintain and enhance Hawkair’s Quality assurance and Safety Management programs while at the same time assisting the Director of Maintenance with Maintenance Planning. 


QA Manager
Responsibilities:
The Quality Manager is responsible to the Accountable Executive for the quality and regulatory compliance of all work performed by the company.

Duties include but are not limited to:
• Maintain a Quality and Evaluation program.
• Ensure that Service Difficulty Reports are submitted to Transport Canada within the required time constraints.
• Act as a liaison between the Company and Transport Canada regarding maintenance and related subjects.
• Ensure that Company originated check sheets conform in detail to the Transport Canada Approved Inspection Program.
• Ensure the Maintenance Control Manual and Maintenance Procedures Manual and all technical publication are amended in a timely manner as required.
• Collate and submit required reports to Bombardier and Transport Canada.
• Ensure that all work done in the shops or on aircraft is carried out in accordance with applicable standards, practices and specifications.
• Ensure that all the procedures contained in the Maintenance Control Manual and the Maintenance Procedures Manual are complied with.
• Ensure a high standard of workmanship, training and compliance with relevant procedures.
• Ensuring that all maintenance and inspection personnel are familiar with Company and Transport Canada requirements and the procedures contained in this Maintenance Control Manual.
• Providing final authority for amendments to aircraft and aeronautical product maintenance and inspection procedures.
• Being responsible for the ultimate acceptability of work performed by subcontractors.
• Being responsible for the Stores Department regarding vendor approval, and record keeping.
• Completing audits of the company maintenance systems to ensure compliance with the MCM and MPM.
• Cross checking paperwork generated by the maintenance crews for completeness and accuracy.
• Ensuring that the calibrated tools program is adequate and is being complied with as per the MCM and MPM

Planning Function
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Develop work packages for planned work for night shift.
• Consult future forecast to ensure all required parts and equipment are available
• Work with DOM on planning and coordinating heavy checks
• Heavy check production liaison
• Be co-point person for heavy check crews to come to with questions.
• Assist with the paperwork tracking for the heavy checks

SMS Coordinator for Maintenance dept.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Comply with external safety standards and regulations that pertain to safety assurance activities.
• Establish procedures to conduct independent internal audits to verify that all activities are conducted in accordance with the company Maintenance Control Manual and Company Operations Manual and to evaluate the effectiveness of the Safety Management Systems.
• Conduct audits with impartiality and report all findings to the Safety Systems Manager for follow up.
• Report Audit findings to the Systems Safety Manger and the Accountable executive.
• Maintain a close liaison with Line Managers and SMS Manager.
• Make recommendations to senior management on matters of safety.

Requirements
• Completion of college/vocational or technical training in an aviation related discipline
• Demonstrated ability to self manage time and prioritize
• 5 to 8 years experience within an aviation maintenance organization or airline.
• Has demonstrated a focus on continual learning within field
• Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment
• Experience with routine maintenance operations
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Able to work well under pressure
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
• Computer literate, with a proven ability to create documents and spreadsheets using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Adaptability
