Manager, Flight Dispatch
Canadian North is currently recruiting a Manager, Flight Dispatch, based in Calgary.
Responsibilities: Actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management System program and demonstrate knowledge of employee responsibilities regarding safety The Manager, Flight Dispatch is responsible for providing day-to-day administrative, functional and technical direction to the Flight Dispatch organization on behalf of the Director, Flight Operations and VP Flight Operations. The Manager, Flight Dispatch is responsible for the development, implementation and enforcement of operational control standards, policies, training and procedures pertaining to the Flight Dispatch function, in keeping with all Safety, Transport Canada, and corporate requirements. Under the direction of the Director, Flight Operations, the Manager, Flight Dispatch will be responsible for the Flight Dispatch Standard Operating Procedures Manual, and the Flight Dispatcher training program, and will provide assistance in technical and regulatory matters pertaining to Flight Operations. Liaise with Director, Flight Operations to develop and maintain Flight Dispatch standards in compliance with Transport Canada and Canadian North Company policies. Formulate and maintain safe and efficient standards which ensure Flight Dispatch functions are carried out in accordance with all regulatory and Company directives. Provide work schedules which ensure adequate and efficient Flight Dispatcher staffing on a twenty-four (24) hour per day basis. Ensure that all Flight Dispatch personnel are provided with the required training, checking and route familiarization suitable to the position being held within the Flight Dispatch organization. Issuance of all Flight Dispatch Bulletins, Notices, and Directives, and development and maintenance of all Dispatch Certification and Training Requirements. Liaise with the Director, Flight Operations and assist as required on developing Flight Operation Standards. Liaise with other Company departments and external agencies to coordinate with the Flight Operations department as required. Liaise with Transport Canada and related Agencies, maintaining a knowledgeable account of current regulations and future changes there to. Liaise with the Director, Flight Operations to ensure that Canadian North meets all certification and regulatory requirements as set out by Transport Canada. Issuance and amendment of the Flight Dispatch Manual. In the event that the Manager, Flight Dispatch, or his designate, becomes aware of a situation that gives him reasonable grounds to assume that a Company dispatcher is unfit or unable to safely perform his assigned duties, the Manager, Flight Dispatch will remove the dispatcher from active status and advise the Director, Flight Operations, and Transport Canada. The Manager, Flight Dispatch will act as dispatcher on routine or special flights, as may be required from time to time, performing all the duties outlined and normally expected of a dispatcher. The Manager, Flight Dispatch will complete and submit appropriate training and check records to Transport Canada. Administers the Flight Dispatch Centre and ensures that it is operated in a safe and cost effective manner. Supervises Chief Dispatcher, Training and Flight Dispatchers. Liaises with the Director, Maintenance and Manager, Commercial Operations Centre regarding the performance and standards of the respective representatives. Ensures that Flight Dispatch Centre requirements are identified and fulfilled as needed. Ensures that Crew Flight Reports pertaining to the Flight Dispatch Centre are handled in a timely manner. Attend Operations Meetings and Operational Performance Conference Calls, and provide required feedback to improve the safety and efficiency of all flight operations. All other duties as assigned by the VP, Operations, Airports & Charters and Director, Flight Operations. In the event that the Manager, Flight Dispatch, or his designate, becomes aware of a situation that gives him reasonable grounds to assume that a Company Flight Dispatcher is unfit or unable to safely perform his/her assigned duties, the Manager,Flight Dispatch will remove the Dispatcher from active status and advise the Director, Flight Operations and Transport Canada.
Qualifications:Successful completion of two TC Generic Dispatcher ExamsPrevious experience as Flight Dispatcher, in Type-A or Type-B Operational Control SystemValid Restricted Radio Operator’s License, for Aeronautical useAbility to obtain a RAICPrevious experience as a TC approved Check Dispatcher is an assetPrevious experience with Sabre Dispatch Manager/Monitor flight planning systems
