Supervisor, Ramp
Porter Airlines Inc. - Toronto, ON
FUNCTION: Reporting to the Manager, Ramp the Supervisor, Ramp is the main point of contact for all ramp personnel and oversees the day to day operation of the Ramp.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Provide daily coaching and mentoring to all ramp team members to create and promote an operationally safe environment
  • Ensure all ramp related functions are safely and efficiently conducted on all Porter and Porter customer aircraft
  • Help foster a safe team environment on the ramp, motivate and create team spirit and synergy
  • Supervise the work performance and grooming standards of Ramp staff
  • Conduct performance related meetings and apply disciplinary action as required
  • Provide the Manager, Ramp with written feedback of any performance, attendance issues/concerns for team members
  • Participate in recruitment interviews for Ramp applicants
  • Ensure safe on-time performance and an excellent level of customer service
  • Make recommendations for revisions to the Ramp manual as necessary
  • Participate in dispute resolution and handling of employee relations incidents
  • Complete and submit nightly aircraft checklists as well as equipment status updates
  • Review and amend all month-to-month Ramp Scheduling when necessary
  • Perform routine assessments of manpower to ensure sufficient staff levels are maintained at all times
  • Responsible for administrative tasks such as overtime control/tracking, attendance tracking, payroll data entry, and the administration of shift trades
  • Ensure equitable distribution of daily tasks
  • Assist the Manager, Ramp in making recommendations on hiring, discipline and termination for Ramp personnel
  • Perform the ramp duties as required
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • A minimum of 5 years ramp operations expertise
  • Minimum of three years management experience
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Negotiation and mediation skills
  • Strong computer skills, using suite of Microsoft Office and other related software programs
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Possess a valid G license (or out of province equivalent)
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Ability to obtain Transport Canada Clearance and an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP)
  • Radio and fork lift license would be an asset
  • Ability to work shift work
