The System De-icing Manager is responsible for managing, supporting and leading de-icing process development and projects, as well as to overseeing the good management and safety compliance of Air Canada de-icing operations, including external suppliers (vendors/3 rd party providers).
- Manage Air Canada’s Airports branch ground deicing activities and ensure that both internal and external service providers meet or exceed Air Canada standards while maintaining compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Ensure Safety, Security and Service standards are observed, monitored and practiced consistently including close partnership with the airport safety organization.
- Update Publication 75 annually to reflect up to date operational requirements.
- Ensure station winter operations preparednessas set out in Publication 75 are met, as well as all regulatory requirements are addressed.
- Develop airport glycol mitigation plans on behalf of operating carriers and airport authorities.
- Design de-icing training programs, regulatory and non regulatory, to support corporate goals and objectives.
- Conduct annual “Train the trainer” sessions for Air Canada stations as well as to 3 rd party providers (Canada, USA, International).
- Ensure adequate inventory of glycol is on hand for seasonal start up and maintain sufficient quantities throughout the season to protect operational requirements
- Manage the glycol fluid testing program and ensure records are maintained
- Monitor agencies contracted to provide deicing services at CDFs and ensure Air Canada standards are met as well as performing vendor management for de-icing service providers and product suppliers
- Sit as Air Canada’s representative on Airport Authority De-icing sub-committee.
- Develop detailed functional specifications with other carriers.
- Perform costing analysis and negotiate Airport Authority fees cost recovery methodologies related to de-icing, with a focus on cost transformation and fee reduction.
- Perform vendor management for de-icing service providers and product suppliers.
- Conduct station de-icing audits as well as establishing and tracking corrective action plans in ETQ as CAP approver.
- Investigate and respond to all ASR’s and FCR’s from Flight Operations filed during the de-icing season
- Manage the de-icing database and station compliance
- Prepare year end summary of deicing operation with a comparative analysis of Air Canada and 3 rd party operators performance
- Implement safety and deicing operations plans and documentation for Airports, with regards to IOSA, SMS standards and other applicable authorities.
- Review and validate the performance, policies and procedures for all service providers and internal departments related to Winter Operations.

- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Finance knowledge an asset
- Airport Operational knowledge an asset
