The Fort McMurray Airport Authority is currently recruiting a full-time Airport Duty Manager

SALARY RANGE: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 + Living Allowance

POSITION SUMMARY
The Airport Duty Manager (ADM), under the direction of the Lead Duty Manager, will primarily be on rotating shifts, responsible for managing the day to day Airside and Groundside Operations of Fort McMurray Airport Authority. This role ensures that facilities and support systems are appropriately maintained and are functioning properly, and monitors operations to ensure work is being conducted in an efficient and safe manner that is in compliance with applicable Legislation, Regulations, policies and procedures. The ADM also manages customer service issues/requests and liaises with Airport stakeholders to address specific requirements. The incumbent represents the Airport when responding to actual, potential or simulated airport emergencies and must act to minimize impacts on Airport Operations.



KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage Airside and Groundside Operations By:
• Coordinating the activities of the Operations Centre during their shift.
• Providing input to the Lead Duty managers for the purpose of preparing annual and
long-term operational budget proposals.
• Maintaining compliance with the Airport Operating Certificate.
• Performing standard safety and security inspections to ensure the operational
efficiency and safety of the Airport and directing the necessary responses for all
deficiencies noted.
• Ensuring compliance of the Airport with applicable Regulations, directives, policies,
and contracts and implementing corrective action as required.
• Acting as a liaison between the Airport and outside contractors for development,
construction, services and maintenance projects.
• Ensuring maintenance of safety and security during construction and contractors
working in the terminal.
• Monitoring Airfield operations and weather related conditions to make judgments on
Airport closures and restrictions.

Lead and Supervise Others By:
• Managing and directing the work of Airport personnel to ensure that Airport standards
are maintained.
• Ensuring that training standards are upheld.
• Coaching and developing employees.
• Assisting in conducting annual performance reviews.
• Assisting with scheduling and logistics during peak times.
• Overseeing the preparation of emergency notifications.
• Ensuring all required security procedures are adhered to.
• Reviewing the work of employees, including contract workers.
• Overseeing the delivery of services to customers.

Administer Airside Safety Program By:
• Preparing for and responding to all airfield and terminal emergencies.
• Directing Airfield Safety Inspections, including: Airfield signs, markings and lighting.
• Managing the maintenance of Airfield pavement.
Conduct General Administrative and Clerical Duties By:
• Preparing a variety of Airport Operational Advisories and Notifications (e.g. Notice to
Airmen [NOTAMS]).
• Maintaining an accurate and complete Airport Incident Reporting System and
Operational Log for all emergency and medical events.
• Preparing reports and correspondence.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Assisting in the management of the activities of all mutual aid agencies that respond
to an emergency (e.g. Police, Fire, Ambulance, HAZMAT teams etc.).
• Providing prompt resolutions to customer requests.
• Handling media inquiries, as required.
• Identifying and communicating new business opportunities.
• Coordinating with applicable municipal, provincial and federal committees, as
required.
• Conducting other duties, as required.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Working knowledge of principles and practices of Airport and Airline Operations and
Airport Emergency Response and Urgent Communications.
• Knowledge of Transport Canada’s Rules and Regulations.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to direct and lead a diverse team.
• Ability to prioritize and delegate work as appropriate.
• Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
• Experience with preparing and managing budgets.
• Ability to deal with various stakeholders sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and

• Proven conflict resolution abilities.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills.

• Operate computers and word processing software and other standard office

REQUIREMENTS:
• Graduation from high school or equivalent; and five years of increasing management
experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Diploma in Airport Management an asset
• Aviation/Airport experience preferred
