Systems Analyst - Airports/SOC Closing Date: Dec 22, 2014 Primary Location : CA-NS-Halifax Schedule : Full-time. Permanent Basic Purpose of Position:
Participate in corporate and departmental project team initiatives for systems / applications. Manage and maintain highly integrated software solutions in a distributed environment for the various business units’ business functions. Manage and maintain currency of documentation for new or existing systems, processes, procedures, and applications.
Key Activities:
- Analyze and document user needs for new systems, reports and integration to existing systems.
- Evaluate packaged solutions and/or design, code and test in-house systems.
- Implement solutions for production use, in co-operation with Client Services, Infrastructure, vendors and business units.
- Document solution and provide on-going user support.
- Document all developed processes.
- Maintain VB interfaces of the production business unit systems.
- Assist with systems upgrades and outages to ensure version conformance.
- Assist users in determining specifications for system enhancements.
- Work closely with system key users to develop and test enhancements.
- Conduct code reviews as part of installation process.
- System testing/implementation.
- Write implementation documentation, helpdesk documentation and technical documentation.
- Design web app /services.
- Design mobile applications.
- Design reports (Logi,ASP.NET).
- Diagnose and resolve all problems with production systems in a timely manner.
- Work with Production Systems/Application vendor to make changes to existing systems to improve data integrity, program maintainability or system efficiency.
- Provide technical advice and consulting help to users on request.
- Manage the ongoing support of existing systems ensuring quality customer service and minimized downtime as per the Business Unit agreed SLA.
- Engage users to test enhancements.
- Troubleshoot problems and answer questions of internal, and where applicable, external customers regarding operational systems and applications.
- Liaison between business unit key users and software vendors.
- All aspects of database support including, writing SQL statements, designing tables, create and maintain stored procedures and functions
- Act as liaison for system upgrades, shutdowns, server builds, server reboots.
- Maintain System Availability logs.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures while giving primary consideration to personal safety, the safety of co-workers and customers.
Qualifications:
- A related degree/diploma and 3-5 years of relevant Information Technology experience.
- 3-5 years experience developing with visual Studio required.
- Mobile application development experience is an asset.
- 3-5 years experience supporting Sabre applications (Movement Control, Dispatch Manager, Crew Trac, ACARS) is required.
- Experience with Logi Analytics an asset.
- Intermediate understanding of SQL is required.
- Experience with Pervasive and MS SQL database support is an asset.
- Experience in gathering business requirements directly from end users.
- Strong communication skills in person, over the telephone and through email.
- A team player with excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders including directly with end users and vendors.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to process and prioritize a high volume of work accurately and efficiently within challenging timelines and with limited supervision.
- The candidate must also be able to accommodate a flexible schedule when required.
- In depth knowledge of core airline systems either Operational or Corporate systems/applications required.
- Strong interpersonal skill.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- ITIL certification an asset.
