The Manager, Airport Projects within the Airports + Aviation Group must have airport experience, and generally should have worked extensively in airports on project initiatives. The expertise should include some level of understanding of hold baggage screening, pre-board screening, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines, as well as operations, regulations and airport
The Manager Airport Projects must have the ability to understand construction procedures in airports, and the operational and regulatory requirements around infrastructure expansions to accommodate airport projects.
This position will be actively managing projects (~ 75% of the effort), and will usually work closely with the client project leads to identify the critical elements of the project, including, budget, resources, scope, schedule and method of delivery. This position will communicate with stakeholders, clearly identify and describe project deliverables, effectively deliver project reports and presentations, identify value-added efficiencies, and present opportunities to avoid costly changes to existing infrastructure and long term operating costs.
The Manager, Airport Projects will also play a management and business development role (~25% of the effort), supervising 3-5 project employees, reviewing their project deliverables, as necessary, to ensure they meet client and internal standards.
This position will participate in setting strategy, business development, proposal development and key client engagement.
Responsibilities
The Manager, Airport Projects is responsible for, but is not limited to, the following:
- All aspects of project execution.
- Analyzing problems and determining critical factors for investigation.
- Providing advice on design processes or construction methods.
- Approving significant changes in specifications and plans, work techniques and materials.
- Determining scheduling priorities.
- Managing a team with responsibility for professional development, performance reviews, work priorities.
- Business development and strategic planning.
Requirements
- Project Management Training (either formal, on-the-job, or some combination of the two).
- Bachelor /Management or Project Management degree/certification, or equivalent
- Ability to travel if required.
- At least five years experience executing projects for a multi-use facility, preferable an airport, but other experience may be considered, including a terminal (other), university, mall etc.
- Minimum five years experience managing personnel.
Competencies:
- Client relationship management.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Technical ability.
- Able to work on a team, independently or manage teams.
- Ability to 'think outside the box' and find solutions to complex problems.
- Flexibility regarding work delivery to suit project requirements .
