Work Environment The Emergency Preparedness Directorate works to prevent disruptions to Canadas transportation system resulting from natural disasters or intentional and unintentional human actions. We monitor emerging or possible threats to the national transportation system and, in collaboration with various departmental groups, including the regions, government and industry partners, we work to ensure that Transport Canada (TC) is ready to manage emergency situations that affect Canadas national transportation system. Recognizing that Canadas transportation system is a critical national resource, we manage challenges to its integrity through the Government of Canadas emergency management program across the four key components: prevention/mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. Challenge You will be fulfilling the functions of an Aviation Operations Officer working in the Transport Canada Situation centre. The function includes receiving, coordinating and disseminating information relating to all aspects of civil aviation to internal and external stakeholders. These duties are performed in a team based environment that requires good judgment, adaptability and excellent communication. Under the guidance of management and following standard operating procedures, you will communicate with stakeholders in the regions in both official languages and prepare written reports describing the event, current actions and impact to the National Civil Air Transportation system.
