The Vancouver Airport Authority has a full-time term opportunity (to June 2017) for an Environmental Analyst, Construction Monitoring in the Environment Department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing new land and building development projects and preparing environmental management strategies to ensure projects are conducted in a sound environmental manner
- Working closely with project management personnel and construction contractors to carry out environmental impact studies, develop environmental management plans and monitor airport construction projects to ensure compliance with environmental standards
- Promoting sustainable building and landscaping practices throughout the airport community
- Preparing technical reports, as well as, developing and implementing environmental training programs
Key qualifications include:
- Undergraduate degree in natural science, environmental studies or engineering, with at least two years’ experience conducting environmental studies, research and monitoring
- A keen analytical ability and proficient computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets
- Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, and demonstrated skills and experience in conducting effective presentations and training programs
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated excellence in report writing
- Knowledge of federal, provincial and local environmental legislation
- Experience in the following areas would be an asset: environmental impact assessment, water sampling, soil sampling, construction site monitoring, fish & wildlife habitat studies, air quality, greenhouse gas management, sustainable building and landscaping design and contaminated sites assessment
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic setting with a focus on results
Note: This position will require frequent fieldwork.
