Reporting to the Senior Manager, Architecture and Technology Strategy, this position is responsible for advising and overseeing the Outsourcers’ architectural planning and technical direction at the GTAA. The key mandates of this role are to facilitate the alignment of technology with business needs, enhance the value from IT infrastructure investments, and guide future technology planning/strategy.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities: Responsible for guiding the process of planning acquiring, building, modifying, and deploying IT resources throughout the organization.
Manage the Outsourcer’s technological direction with respect to the GTAA’s infrastructure.
Develop and maintain a technology and business system roadmap for the IT infrastructure that aligns with corporate goals and ITM’s strategic plan to include Enterprise applications (e.g., Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office); Mobility solutions; Business intelligence; Unified communications; Connectivity and integration; Video conferencing and multi‐media.
Evaluate industry trends and emerging technologies, and determine how to best position the GTAA to take advantage of these opportunities.
Create partnering relationships with key vendors, and map their solutions and roadmaps to those of the GTAA.
Act in an advisory capacity to the Director, Technology Strategy & Planning.
Guide and contribute to the creation of an ITM architectural blueprint that aligns with ITM’s strategic plan and the GTAA’s business direction.
Direct the architectural work performed by the Outsourcer, including proposals for change, end‐of‐life replacements, and new technology introductions.
Validate that the Outsourcer’s architecture meets GTAA business requirements, and aligns with industry best practices and ITM standards.
For projects undertaken by third parties, review Statements of Work (SOWs) for consistency, COTS availability, and alignment with ITM blueprint and standards.
Develop and maintain technology standards for the GTAA’s infrastructure based on industry best practices and a thorough knowledge of the airport environment.
Perform regular audits to ensure that standards are being followed.
Regularly assess the state of the IT infrastructure at the GTAA, and develop strategies for improvement.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
University degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering, Technology related focus preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of related experience managing change and release management.
Minimum 5-7 years of related experience in managing outsourced IT supplier relationships.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in People Management (direct report or cross-functional).
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a broad range of technologies and platforms (Windows, Unix).
ITIL V3 certification preferred with working experience in IT Demand Management, Problem and Change Management processes.
Experience managing in a unionized environment an asset.
Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment.
Must meet the security level designated for the position or be able obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of ITIL methodologies and processes, IT network, infrastructure and application management.
Strong understanding of airport and airline business processes, strong oversight of industry best practices.
Strong understanding of project management principles.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong leadership, interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
