Selected individual ensures the efficiency and safety of airside and landside facilities including support systems are maintained and functioning properly; confirms activities comply with rules and regulations; administers programs and projects; manages airport customer service issues and requests; performs other related duties as assigned.

The essential duties of the job involve the following:
  1. Oversees airside and landside operations of the airport; ensures the operational efficiency and safety of the airport by performing standard safety and security inspections of the aircraft operating area and terminal facilities in compliance with applicable FAA and TSA regulations/directives, and Airport Authority policies, regulations and contracts.
  2. Serves as liaison between the Airport and contractors for development, construction, service and maintenance projects; coordinates and directs maintenance and construction work on runways, taxiways, aprons and terminal facilities; issues NOTAMs to advise concerned parties of airfield conditions.
  3. Communicates operational advisories, notifications and information to air carriers, general aviation operators, air traffic control, tenants, governmental agencies and airport users.
  4. Responds to airfield and terminal emergencies; represents the Airport Authority when responding to actual, potential or simulated airport emergencies; assists in managing the activities of mutual aid agencies that respond to an emergency, (e.g. Police, Fire, FBI, TSA, ARFF, Customs and Boarder Protection, HAZMAT teams, paramedics, etc.).
  5. Inspects airport terminals to ensure systems are functioning properly (includes utilities, HVAC, passenger circulation, etc.); checks terminals for safety and liability problems; ensures all required security procedures are adhered to; reviews work of custodial staff.
  6. Ensures that emergency notifications are conducted in a timely manner in accordance with current Authority policies and procedures; manages the remain-overnight (RON) aircraft parking assignments to include necessary changes in accommodating airline schedule changes and charter aircraft.
  7. Manages airfield escorts to ensure compliance with rules and regulations; maintains records and operational logs, prepares reports and correspondence.

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Aviation Management, or a related field; and a minimum of three years of experience in the operation of a medium or large air carrier airport. Extensive experience can be substituted for education, or a combination of experience at a large air carrier with accreditation in the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), AAE or ACE programs can be substituted for the education requirement.
