OVERVIEW Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Screening Point Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the day-to-day checkpoint screening operations, with the qualified candidates possessing strong leadership, mentoring, and training abilities, while ensuring optimal customer service and achieving professional and productive results. RESPONSIBILITIES Manage with care and control, the screening checkpoints, including screening officers at a point at which persons, property, belongings and baggage may present, or be presented, for screening consistent, in the manner and under the circumstances prescribed by CATSA and baggage that may be present. * Ensure screening services are consistently performed to the highest standards. * Manage the screening of persons, property, belongings that may be present, or be presented for screening consistently in the manner and under the circumstances as prescribed by CATSA * Coordinate breaks and the movement of screening officers and TLs to maximize efficiency of screening in conjunction with throughput and passenger volumes. * Adjust screening Personnel allocation and deployment at each screening checkpoint on an hourly basis to optimize the scheduling and maximize the productivity while maintaining checkpoints with the proper number of Screening Personnel necessary to meet skills, qualifications, and experience and language proficiency. * Coach, mentor, motivate, correct and discipline screening personnel on conformity to CATSA’s prescribed standard of performance, professionalism and uniform attire and other issues * Understand any requirements, processes, procedures, operations, directions issued by CATSA and by TC and implement the information in a timely manner * Represent CATSA and Garda professionally at all times. * Conduct 30/60/90 day performance reviews for all new hires and annual evaluations for all other screening personnel. * Conduct daily briefings with Team Leaders * Communicate to screening personnel about any change to the SOPs, screening operations, bulletins, directives, information or security notices or any information that may be relevant to the performance of screening or performance of services. * Solicit feedback from screening personnel on areas of improvement in the conduct of screening and other related services. * Complete all necessary checkpoint clerical duties or reports as required by Garda or CATSA * Implement contingency plans or emergency preparedness plans as prescribed by CATSA and resolve contingencies and emergencies with CATSA, the aerodrome operator and any other air transport security stakeholder as otherwise may be required to ensure the continuation of screening and uninterrupted flow of passengers and non-passengers, as well as their property, belongings and baggage, during the operating hours of the PBS, HBS and NPS at their airport. * Implement reactive adjustments or changes to any services or deliverables as CATSA may identify and approve. * Ensure all operational documents are filed, saved, organized and identifiable to allow for quick access in the event of a review request. * Ensure all equipment used to screen passengers is verified at the checkpoint as prescribed by CATSA. * Ensuring screening personnel understand the nature and the extent of any change in SOPs, screening operations, bulletins, directives, information or security notices or any relevant information pertaining to the screening operations. * Inform CATSA immediately upon becoming aware of any issues that may adversely affect CATSA’s operating activities or reputation with the public, including, but not limited to safeguarding the traveling public and any CATSA property. QUALIFICATIONS * Strong leadership and decision making abilities. * Detailed understanding of the checkpoint and HBS process. * Experience in managing personnel in a unionized environment is an asset. * Ability to work shift work in a 24/7 environment. * Effective verbal and written communication skills. * Computer literate – with a working knowledge of Microsoft office. * Ability to multitask and produce results in a fast paced and stressful environment. * Bilingual - French and English preferred COMPENSATION * Competitive total compensation package, based on qualifications, starting salary is $45 000 at this work location * Participation in our Performance Incentive Program * Professional and personal growth opportunities GardaWorld is an equal opportunity employer. *We thank all applicants for their interest in the position however we will communicate only with the selected candidates.
