Job Title: Operations Lead 
Tier 3 

Description: 
  • Promote safety by adhering to safety SOPs, pro-actively identifying and eliminating hazards and risks (Mechanics in Motion)
  • Ensure Gate Event Tracker is updated completely and that all delayed flights are accurately coded; document in Daily Shift Notes Tool
  • Investigate all delay code disputes (bags and flights)
  • Assist by allocating additional resources for special service requests
  • Execute on daily/weekly KPIs Action Plans as assigned by the Manager
  • Ensure all duties are assigned, breaks are taken and shifts extended due to irregular operations
  • Consult with Manager, when required, to determine if coverage is needed in the event of an absence

  • Ensure Guest Service Standards and departmental procedures (ASAP Bulletins, Read & Sign, Red Alerts, JetSmarts) are maintained and recognized by delivering recognition and coaching conversations (behavioral, attendance, SPOT, technical, uniforms) regarding all aspects of day-of observed performance
  • Document conversations using Daily Shift Notes tool
  • Lead daily briefings
  • Attend regular briefings with the Manager to maintain open communication and understanding of the operational successes and challenges
  • Conduct a minimum of one airside or airport audit per month
  • Operate as the single point of contact for all guest recovery plan and communicate to all stakeholders
  • Ensure all aircraft movement (LiveTV/APU INOP, gate changes, diversion, cancellations or delays) and servicing is coordinated locally, in consultation with Operation Control Centre
  • Assist Guest Solutions with IROP re-accommodation plans – including baggage movement, guest recovery, hotel/meal vouchers, and advising all local agencies of delays (CATSA, CBSA, GH, etc.)
  • Monitor all arrival/departures of the station to assist in identifying any local guest connection issues up/down line
  • Execute the successful implementation of all IROP activities to ensure safety, efficiency and a positive guest experience
  • Communicate all significant operational challenges to the Manager
  • Identify opportunities for local/individual training to Manager
  • Facilitate a component of agent on-boarding as required
  • Participate in technical webinars and cascade information through daily briefings
  • Complete WCB forms, when required
  • Ensure the AQD/IHRs are completed and all relevant documentation gathered; including completing the Accident/Incident Checklist, when required
  • Provide approval to Ground Handling partner for OT and other adhoc charges associated with an IROP
  • Responsible for understanding the ER plan and executing, when required
  • Identify trends and opportunities regarding flight schedules/labour and provide to direct leader
  • Respond to IT failures (i.e. printers) and facility concerns (i.e. bag belts), when required
  • Provide technical support (SabreSonic, Movement Control, NetTracer, etc.) and guidance as required
  • Participate in Station Team meetings as required
  • Provide input to peak readiness plans

Qualifications: 
  • Minimum 1 year airport operations experience
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver feedback and recognition for observed performance
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead the team during an irregular operation
  • Demonstrated ability to make operational decisions in time sensitive situations
  • Strong communication skills - both written and oral
  • Proven ability to provide a high level of guest service
  • An understanding of Key Performance Indicator metrics; including how adjusting shifts impacts the station labour budget
  • Proven history of supporting new projects and initiatives
  • Beginner skills in MS Office applications PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proven track record in safety awareness
  • Proven track record of following and promoting the Guest Service Standards
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as operationally required and travel for training
  • Advanced working knowledge with all Airport functions in SabreSonic, NetTracer, Movement Control, General Reference Tool, etc. and execution of Airport Standards and Procedures
  • An understanding of Ground Operations (and Ground Icing) is an asset
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset
  • An understanding of the Airport Schedule, labour budget and ability to create daily job maps is an asset
  • Exceptional personal OTP and performance - Positive role model, outwardly demonstrates WestJet values
