We offer a complete range of aircraft de-icing application services, spent aircraft de-icing fluid management and wastewater programs for large and small airports. We accomplish all of this by using a variety of technologies and efficient equipment systems. 

As our company continues to change and grow we are seeking a qualified individual to contribute to our on-going success in the role of Lead Operator. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for the safe and efficient operation and preservation of equipment utilized for the purpose of tasks related to Glycol Recovery Vehicles and processing, while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders. 

This full-time position will be located at the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport in Winnipeg, Manitoba and reports to the Operations Manager. The schedule will be shift work with varying hours consisting of weekends, days and nights. 

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Professionally monitor, operate and maintain the company’s Recovery and Processing Equipment including the Glycol Concentrator to ensure optimum production and efficiency; 
  • Abide by Inland’s procedural handbooks, operational plans and directives of the supervisor to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations; 
  • Assist in the training of operators of spent aircraft de-icing fluid recovery and processing; 
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental labour, health and safety laws, regulations, and policies; 
  • Assist in the training of all operators in the proper Recovery and Processing Equipment operational procedures and inform the site supervisor immediately of any deficiencies in Recovery and Processing Equipment operation, daily inspections and daily paperwork submitted by all operators;
  • Ensure all operators perform daily Recovery Equipment walk-arounds before operation: focusing on lights, spray bar, emulsifying agent, chassis, pick-up head, debris tank, dumping controls, axial separators, valve positions, vehicle and auxiliary engines, and inside controls; 
  • Perform and instruct operators with light maintenance tasks on Recovery and Processing Equipment; 
  • Perform and instruct operators with tank inventory and/or storm preparedness operations, (i.e., drain and valve operations, etc.); 
  • Routinely inspect de-icing surfaces while on shift and promptly collect or dispatch the appropriate number of operators to collect spent aircraft de-icing fluid (ADF); 
  • Routinely inspect tanks, plumbing, filtration, pumping systems while on shift, and promptly repair and advise Supervisor of all actions required; 
  • Be aware of any fluid segregation requirements as directed by the Site Supervisor; 
  • Oversee the daily tracking and recording of fluids processed; 
  • Assist with the glycol recycling processes, including concentrator and sanitary machine operations; 
  • Other duties as assigned by management. 

As the ideal candidate you possess the following qualifications: 

  • Ability to obtain and continue to hold a Transportation Security Clearance and a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC); 
  • Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC); 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets Company insurance standards; 
  • Ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle in inclement weather; 
  • Previous experience in the airline industry in a supervisory capacity; 
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft and how they perform; 
  • Previous experience overseeing the work of others; 
  • Computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; 
  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively; 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task; 
  • Ability to interpret documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; 
  • General mechanical competence and ability to effectively use hand tools; 
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude; 
  • Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure within fixed time constraints; 
  • Willing to learn new skills and adapt to change in order to support the growth of the company and meet needs of customers.
