PAL Airlines is currently seeking a Dispatcher to join our team in St. Johns, NL .

Job Duties:
  • Liaise with the Traffic Department regarding loads for various routes and flight segments and liaise with the Manager Flight Dispatch for the purposes of maintaining dispatch standard operating procedures;
  • Be familiar with sources of meteorological information and conditions and brief the Pilot-in-Command (crew);
  • Perform Operational Flight Watch to determine if changes to operational and meteorological conditions may affect the safety of flights and capture up-to-date flight progress information of assigned flight movements;
  • Prepare the Operational Flight Plan, the preliminary Weight and Balance and Fuel Load requirements as per the Operations Manual and communicate to Air Traffic Control Services all Flight Plan requirements;
  • Develop, review, authorize, issue and revise, as required, the Operational Flight Plan for all flights in keeping with safety, regulatory and operational requirements and ensure on day of flight, that the Flight Dispatch function performs safe and efficient operational control in accordance with all Canadian and foreign governmental rules and regulations, company flight operating manuals and operational policies and procedures;
  • Formulate and implement revised Operational Flight Plans as required and communicate the revised plans to the Pilot-in-Command;
  • Responsible for the completion, audition and retention of all flight documentation from all bases;
  • Resolve with applicable departments, problems caused by any aircraft deviation from standard which may limit or impact flight operational capabilities and communicate any operational limitations;
  • Initiate and coordinate airport handling to off line airports are required;
  • Authorize the release of an aircraft to operate in accordance with the terms and conditions established by the Operational Flight Plan;
  • Analyze operational conditions and identify any opportunities that may constrain, impede or benefit operational capabilities;
  • When requested, or deemed necessary, provide the Pilot-in-Command with a thorough and professional flight crew briefing;
  • Solicit, interpret, and maintain current flight and field condition reports to provide flight crews with the latest operational information;
  • Initiate accident alarm procedures and assess and issue Flight Incident Category Reports as required;
  • Provide crew scheduling functions as required;
  • Provide direction to stations on passenger and other payload movement in the event of irregular operations;
  • In co-operation with commercial operations determine and initiate an alternate plan of operating during irregular operations to minimize the inconvenience to our customers and safety requirements;
  • Any other related duties.
Qualifications:
  • Previous aviation experience an asset;
  • Must have demonstrated ability for quick thinking, sound judgement, and adaptability;
  • Proven ability to work under pressure;
  • Ability to receive and apply performance feedback;
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills;
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Currently hold a Type B dispatch licence or have successfully written the Transport Canada dispatch generic exams are an asset, but it is not a prerequisite;
  • Currently hold an Industry Canada Restricted Radio certificate would be an asset
