Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager on Duty, the Ramp Duty Manager will be accountable for ramp daily operations. With a strong focus on safety and security, this role will be responsible to assist in efficiently and profitably manage and direct ramp services activities by providing a safe, quality services to its customers.
Job Responsibilities
- Must adhere to ALL safety rules, safe working practices/procedures and Company Policies;
- Maintain close and effective business relationships with customers, and various control authorities such as Airport Authorities, Security, etc;
- Establish strong leadership with all supervisors and ramp employees through excellent communication and a positive work environment;
- Maintain excellent relationship and conduct meetings with local union representatives and or chairperson when necessary in order to resolve employees issues in partnership with local HR department;
- Ensure effective planning methods and procedures in place to ensure there are adequate resources, both manpower and equipment to meet operational needs;
- Solves conflicts/irregularities and takes appropriate action;
- Participate in meetings internally and externally as required;
- Maintain a visible presence in all areas of operations;
- Maintain and observe confidentially with respect to employee records;
- Maintain employees’ disciplinary records and ensure consistent follow-up and follow through with Supervisors and Managers;
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelors or Associates degree a plus, but not required;
- 3-5 years of managerial experience in the ground handling operations with strong focus on procedural compliance, safety practices and continuous improvement processes;
- Highly motivated self-starter, who can effectively prioritize, multi-task and manage to accomplish objectives within prescribed deadlines;
- Fluent spoken and written English;
- Outstanding communication skills including written, oral, interpersonal and presentation
- Ability to be “on call” 24/7 for emergencies;
- The nature of this position demands discretion, good judgment and prompt, accurate decision-making, as well as the management of complex situations;
- High proficiency in Microsoft suite of programs, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel;
- Ability to lead, persuade, gain support, obtain commitment, and mobilize a team to action;
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with different department Supervisors and Managers;
