Reporting to the Manager, External Communications, this position is responsible for providing day to day external communications support to the organization.This position will help ensure that the execution of communications planning and delivery is done effectively and in accordance with the business requirements of internal business owners and other stakeholders.The incumbent will manage all of the external communications channels for their clients while developing communications plans for new and enhanced channels and projects. The incumbent will also support external communications team members as required.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
- Support and implement communications plans for multiple departments within the GTAA
- Work directly with internal clients to recommend, develop, direct, implement and measure the effectiveness of integrated communication strategies
- Manage the implementation of external communications tactics in support of the business goals of internal stakeholders
- Design, develop and implement tactical communication plans integrating key messages and ensuring communications are timely, relevant, targeted, clear, consistent and concise
- Prepare communications campaigns and materials for news releases, web pages, media pitches, and all external communications channels including social media
- Use creative thinking to meet the needs of various stakeholders
- Analyze and integrate large amounts of new information quickly and accurately
- Rotational weekend and evening coverage for media calls related to operational issues and emergencies
- Act as a GTAA media spokesperson for all on camera communications
- Responsible for being a customer centric Leader with respect to the Mission, Vision, Values, and Beliefs
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will possess either a university degree or three (3) year college diploma focusing on: public relations/communications or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in external communications within a complex organization
- Minimum of three (3) years working as a media spokesperson
- Valid Ontario G Driver’s License
- Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience in a Customer Centric organization, familiar with Customer Experience models
- Strong proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft 2010, HTML
- Ability to work with confidential information
- Superior writing and editing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management experience
- Experience working in a unionized, 24/7 workplace would be an asset
- Demonstrated time management, organizational and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated experience in working in an ever-changing environment
