WHAT YOU WILL DO The Security Specialist reports to the Manager, Security and is a self-directed independent thinker with resolve to execute the security program to completion. Using the experience and knowledge gained through operating in a highly regulated and fast-paced environment, you will creatively solve a variety of security challenges. This role requires a level head, and follow through to ensure conflict resolution, stakeholder satisfaction and a positive passenger experience. Your eye for continuous improvement will serve you well in identifying gaps or opportunities and closing the loop on any outstanding enhancements to the program. The key responsibilities of this role are: Effective administration of the Airport Security Program -Tracking security performance and analysis of incident reporting to evaluate trends and vulnerabilities along with the subsequent investigation and creation of corrective actions plans ensuring implementation to completion - Ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, regulations and best practices through ongoing oversight, audit and gap analysis - Collaborating with other agencies on airport security risk assessments and day to day operations Making recommendations for continual improvements to security plans and systems Security Systems Administration - Maintaining a working knowledge of IT security systems pre and post security and personnel access control levels and system during both day-to-day operations, construction projects and facility changes - Maintain a working knowledge of video management system and it’s applicable policies Security Preparedness and Response - Participate in the creation of security exercises - Responding to testing scenarios and events as required - Managing security training programs Project Support - Supporting internal and external projects with advice and providing guidance regarding security services and requirements - Participate in pre, post, and ongoing site inspections of construction areas including the provision of appropriate security orientations and knowledge WHAT YOU BRING • Strong knowledge of physical security operations and security systems including the basic elements of criminology and crime prevention • Must possess a post-secondary diploma or degree or an acceptable combination education and/or experience • Knowledge of the law enforcement function and including the roles and responsibilities of a security officer, legal parameters and legislation, officer deportment, public interaction, human relations, patrol techniques, report writing, court procedures, response to emergency situation, and the use of security equipment • Demonstrated ability dealing with difficult situations and people and the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in challenging circumstance • Strong oral and written communications skills combined with a the ability to create and deliver effective presentations • The ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, system manufacturers and Authority staff are key to being successful in this role • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) • Meet requirements of a safety-sensitive position WHAT ELSE? Preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following: • Accredited Airport Executive (AAE), Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or similar designation(s) in airport operations or Security management • Familiarity with the airport environment would be considered an asset • Experience and exposure to electronic access control systems, video management platforms and database management Is your heart racing at the exciting opportunity to join our team?
