About the Role Under the supervision of the Chief Flight Instructor, the Scheduler and Dispatcher is responsible for exercising safe and efficient operational control over the MRU Aviation flights. The incumbent is responsible for the scheduling and rescheduling of student’s flight and simulator training and any record keeping with respect to scheduling. The Scheduler and Dispatcher is also responsible for dispatch including ensuring requirements as outlined in federal regulatory requirements.  Responsibilities: Plan and organize student flight and simulator training sessions taking into consideration student training requirements, aircraft, instructor and simulator availability, aircraft and simulator “unserviceabilities”, weather conditions and general time frames Monitor that all scheduled flight missions are completed and investigates and reschedules any missed missions Enter all flight training hours into the Pilot Training Record (PTR) as required by Transport Canada Monitor and confirm that all FLTR courses are completed to meet graduation requirements Coordinate and schedule Transport Canada flight tests for students and instructors Coordinate aircraft maintenance with the Person Responsible for Maintenance (PRM) and simulator maintenance with the Simulator Instructors and maintain maintenance information by recording costs by aircraft Track and monitor all pilot licenses, Transport Canada medicals, currencies (i.e. night rating), passports, and industry Canada radio licenses Monitor aircraft ETA’s as required by Transport Canada and initiate Emergency Procedures in the event of an overdue aircraft (15 minutes after ETA) Prepare materials and files for new aviation students, which include Flight Scheduling Pro access, Blackboard access, security swipe card access, etc. and assist in student orientation Qualifications: Post-secondary diploma in combination with 2-3 years of relevant experience Knowledgeable and adheres to applicable safety systems, policies, statements and processes Demonstrates the ability to act in accordance with health and safety legislation and practices A cover letter and resume should be submitted as part of your application.  Salary Grade:  We thank all applicants for their interest. Students can pursue majors in accounting, general management (with concentrations in financial analysis, financial services, international business and supply chain management), human resources and marketing. In addition to these majors, the Bissett School of Business offers minors including business and society, innovation and entrepreneurship, and social innovation, nonprofit studies, as well as a diploma in Aviation, and certificates in advanced accounting, human resources, and marketing. Approximately 2000 students are enrolled in the school’s programs.  The Aviation diploma program has been in operation since 1970. The two-year program operates eight aircraft at Springbank Airport along with three simulators. Students enter the program with a Private Pilot License and graduate with a Commercial Pilot License and Multi-IFR in addition to a Diploma in Aviation.  For further information or to apply, please click here
