Baggage/Airline Coordinator – Baggage Operations Department

We have an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Baggage/Airline Coordinator in the Baggage Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Baggage Operations; the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the successful operations of the baggage systems and facilities. This person, who will work with key stakeholders and liaise with service providers, will look at the broad spectrum, from conceptual design to testing of all elements of the baggage product, providing the subject matter expertise to ensure operational and business requirements are considered.

Key responsibilities include: 
  • Creating and planning contingency operations for failures of assets, systems and processes
  • Auditing system performance, KPI and SLA on an ongoing basis
  • Coordinating and facilitating baggage assets and systems utilization for optimum efficiency
  • Reviewing and following up on incidents, accidents and operating irregularities
  • Providing subject matter expertise on multiple projects
  • Develop and document procedures for operational use of assets
  • Ensuring the baggage safety and security management processes and procedures are documented
Key qualifications include: 
  • Post-secondary schooling, including trades apprenticeships, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with airport baggage systems with a strong understanding of baggage systems, baggage operations and bag hall facility management
  • Good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to lead, direct and coordinate activities in a safety critical, time sensitive work environment
  • Strong conflict resolution, critical thinking, decision making and multitasking skills
  • Proven communication skills, especially report writing, documentation, meeting facilitation and presentation
  • Must possess a valid BC driver’s license
