*** PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION THAT WILL COMMENCE IN APRIL 2018 AND END IN MARCH 2019 ***
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) program and demonstrate knowledge of employee responsibilities regarding safety
- Maintain excellent knowledge of Canadian North’s SMS and investigate applicable incident reports as assigned within the established timeframes
- In conjunction and cooperation with the other Operations Manager, Yellowknife, provide leadership and direction to the local Airport, Ramp and Cargo operations, ensuring a focus is on the highest levels of customer service and on-time performance
- Work a set schedule that between the two Operations Manager positions provides 7 day a week oversight at the Airport, Ramp and Cargo operations as required.
- Implement and monitor Airports, Ramp and Cargo service standards and procedures
- Monitor initiatives designed to ensure all agents are capable ambassadors of Canadian North Inc.
- Ensure all agents have the knowledge, attitude, and excellent customer service skills necessary for success, while challenging them to continuously improve on service delivery
- Ensure all agents are fully briefed and compliant with Transport Canada Regulations and all related training
- Continuously monitor operations at the base and Community Air Service and follow-up with agents, contractors, airport authority and other third party agencies as required
- Ensure a clean, safe, unobstructed work area is maintained and continuously practice proper safety protocols
- Plan and maintain staffing levels, ensuring operational efficiency and cost control
- Management of staffing requirements including scheduling, compliance, training and support
- Liaising with the Manager, Cargo Planning on a regular basis to meet and maintain shipment standards
- Promote good customer and supplier relations, as well as positive public relations within the business and airport communities
- Ensure all administrative functions, including (but not limited to) HR paperwork, payroll, invoicing, expenses, accruals, and bank deposits, are completed within the established timeframes
- Assist the Director, Airport & Cargo Operations - West, with the preparation and execution of the departmental budget as it pertains to operations at the Yellowknife base
- Understand and effectively manage the Unifor collective agreement
- Assist with Charter operations as required
- Assist with responses to customer comments in a timely and appropriate manner
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum two years of operational experience in an airport and/or cargo environment
- Previous experience in a supervisor or managerial role is required
- Strong ability to determine performance goals and ability to hold others accountable
- Demonstrate high degree of emotional maturity and ability to operate under stressful situations
- Ability to work flexible hours
