Roles and Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with the Inventory team addressing and informing each team of projects and issues;
  • To coordinate and communicate the duties, efforts and priorities of team;
  • To review and make recommendations to the Materials Manager regarding hiring and the performance of the Aircraft Material Coordinators on shift;
  • To provide leadership to the Materials team. (As discipline issues are restricted to verbal/email reminders by Shift Leads, all reoccurring or serious issues are to be forwarded to the Materials Manager);
  • To assist in the training of team ensuring that all Aircraft Material Coordinators are have the necessary and/or information to complete all inventory management duties in support of regulation and policies including the handling and packaging of all aircraft materials, supplies and tools, and all machinery required in performing their duties;
  • To supervise Aircraft Material Coordinators at all applicable locations coordinating staffing requirements prioritizing the duties ensuring that assigned task are performed in a professional and timely manner;
  • To ensure that the Materials Stores department provides a high, professional standard of support to all related departments;
  • To ensure that all entries are created in the inventory computer database, including spot-checking Aircraft Material Coordinator entries;
  • Provide guidance and leadership, mentoring and developing the Aircraft Material Coordinators in inventory management practices;
  • To support the Maintenance and other related departments in ensuring that aircraft parts, tools, supplies and information are supplied in an expedient manner;
  • Maintain accurate stock levels of aircraft parts, materials, tools and supplies, ensuring optimum inventory levels are maintained;
  • Ensure that the inventory levels in the CMTS are accurately reflected;
  • Conduct weekly visual inspection of all stock, including aircraft parts, tools, supplies and open stock to ensure that all stock is stored in accordance with WestJet policies meeting regulatory compliance;
  • Maintain a clean, clutter free and safe environment;
  • Conduct regularly scheduled one on ones with Aircraft Material Coordinators;
  • Be an active participant in our Safety Management System, which also includes resolving AQD’s;
  • Perform other duties or assignments as requested by the Material Management team;
  • Ensure Aircraft Material Coordinators conduct cycle counting of material as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Two (2) year working knowledge of aircraft materials handling, storage and shipping procedures;
  • Display adequate knowledge of leadership principles;
  • Display adequate knowledge of industry practices and understanding of the responsibilities associated with this position;
  • Hold valid Driver’s License and Airside Drivers pass or obtain an Airport DA within 6 months of accepting posting;
  • Ability to obtain a Restricted Airside Identity Card (RAIC) within 6 months of accepting posting;
  • Hold valid Dangerous Goods Certification or obtain within 6 months of accepting position;
  • Completion of Forklift Operation training or obtain within 6 months of accepting position.
