WSP is currently seeking a Planner, located at our Kitchener, ON office
to support our group of professional aviation specialists, technologists and
engineers to deliver aviation consulting services to our domestic and
international clients.
A sampling of the services provided by WSP’s Aviation Planning group
includes: airport master planning, project management, land use planning,
operational assessments, air terminal and facilities planning, business and
strategic planning, activity forecasting, financial analysis, airfield ground
lighting, runway, taxiway and apron design, de-icing facility design, obstacle
limitation surface assessment, regulatory compliance and Safety Management
Systems.
This position forms an integral part of WSP’s Centre of Excellence in
the Aviation Industry.
The successful applicant will work under the supervision of a Senior
Planner who is experienced in project management and airport planning and will
assist in completing various assigned tasks related to the planning, design,
and construction of airport infrastructure in Canada and globally.
RESPONSIBILITIES
·
Actively participate and provide input in
developing airport planning and zoning plans utilizing previous knowledge and
experience;
·
Application of airport planning techniques with
minimal supervision;
·
Apply existing knowledge in the planning of
airfield infrastructure projects by developing preliminary drawings and
technical reports with minimal supervision;
·
Undertake windrose studies, aircraft performance
analysis, preliminary cost estimates, terminal functional space planning etc.,
with minimal supervision;
·
Apply existing knowledge in airfield facilities
planning including simulation of aircraft ground maneuvering using AviPlan
Airside Pro software;
·
Assist with the preparation of Strategic and/or
Business Plans to support capital investments;
·
Undertake research activities to identify and
develop and/or present potential solutions to aviation issues;
·
Contribute to knowledge transfer by providing
functional guidance and coaching to the team’s less experienced employees;
·
Organize and participate in stakeholder
consultations in support of projects;
·
Assist in managing projects under the
supervision of the Manager, Aviation Planning;
·
Opportunity for travel within Ontario and out of
Province may be available;
·
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
·
Post-secondary degree/diploma
·
Minimum 4 years of related experience;
·
Enthusiastic interest in the field of aviation;
·
Strong verbal and personal communication skills;
·
Excellent work ethic and attention to detail;
·
Full working knowledge of the Microsoft Office
suite of programs;
·
Ability to think critically;
·
Ability to work in a team environment;
·
Very strong organizational skills;
·
Possess a valid Ontario Drivers’ license is
considered an asset;
·
AutoCAD Experience;
·
Experience in applying Transport Canada
Aerodrome Standards & Recommended Practices Publication;
·
Fluent verbal and written communication in
English. Verbal and written communication skills in French are considered an
asset.
