Runway Coordinator - Greater Toronto Airports Authority, Ontario
$37.37 - $41.13 an hour
Reporting to the Manager, Slot Coordination, this position is responsible to manage, analyze, and allocate runways slots to the airline community of Toronto Pearson International Airport under the guidance of the IATA Worldwide Slot Guidelines.
- Allocates slots within the runway constraints, producing runway assessments to verify and find operational times for each slot in accordance with the IATA World Scheduling Guidelines and our night flight program
- Calibrates all runway allocation tools to reflect existing and future phases of runway availability such as updating baseline data during periods where capacity could be impacted when setting future or advanced seasonal schedules
- Builds scenarios of runway allocation to respond to senior management and airline requests for runway/building configuration and airline terminal reassignments
- Maintains the air carrier application for entry processes for the Toronto Pearson International Airport
- Assists with runway allocation application development to ensure the department has the necessary tools at all times
- Advises management on matters relating to runway allocation planning best practices
- Participates in regular committees regarding runway coordination
- Undertakes other projects as assigned
This unionized position is classified at the Band 7 level, with an hourly wage range of $37.37 to $41.13, based on a 37.5 hour work week. The successful candidate must be available to commence the duties of the position once a selection decision has been made. A test will be administered as a part of the competitive process. An eligibility list may be created.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Aviation, Industrial Engineering, Logistics/Transportation or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in Aviation or a similar industry (Transportation, Logistics or Rail) in resource/asset coordination, preferably with an emphasis on airport systems analysis
- Knowledge of runway operations, passenger flows, aircraft stand allocation plans and terminal operations is preferred, or similar experience in network planning, complex scheduling, large scale transport
- Experience in data management, exploration and data mining of large data sets preferred
- Experience working with the IATA Worldwide guidelines and process would be an asset
- Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
- Understanding of the IATA worldwide scheduling guidelines
- Expertise in airport runway flows, airport systems analysis and other resource planning in a multifunctional technical environment
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office software
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and effective time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure with tight timeframes
- Detail oriented when producing high quality assessment outputs on a repetitive basis
- Excellent skills in research, oral communication, report writing and presentation creation
- Strong quality management skills for documentation tracking and organization
- Superior interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong problem‐solving skills and the ability to effectively manage scarce resources/assets and maximize allocations within specific planning parameters
