Reporting to the Special Projects Manager, this central position will be responsible for training and compliance oversight in all ramp operations. The incumbent should be approachable, have excellent health and safety awareness, be able to coordinate multiple projects at one time, and most importantly, have an energetic and hands-on approach to the job.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and maintaining Ramp manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Developing initial and recurrent training programs (i.e. curricula, online courses, assessment tools);
  • Liaising with Ramp Management to schedule initial and recurrent training for all employees;
  • Delivering classroom and on-the-job training in all locations;
  • Assisting in starting up new bases or outstations;
  • Ensuring documentation and training records are up-to-date;
  • Developing and maintaining a “train the trainer” program;
  • Acting as a resource for ramp employees, answering questions, providing feedback, and correcting non-compliance when observed;
  • Developing an Operational Quality Assurance auditing program;
  • Conducting regular operational audits to assess compliance with company SOPs and all related airport and Transport Canada rules and regulations;
  • Providing detailed compliance reports, including recommended correction actions for incidents of non-compliance following each audit.
Qualifications/Conditions of Employment:
  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
  • Required to obtain a valid Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC);
  • Required to maintain a valid Restricted Operators Certificate – Aeronautical (ROC-A)
  • Valid Class D, DR or DA Airside Vehicle Operations Permit (AVOP) an asset;
  • Must be physically fit (able to stand/walk for extended periods of time and move in tight spaces);
  • Must be willing to undergo and maintain up-to-date training, as required;
  • Minimum of three years of experience in Ramp Operations;
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or show proof of right to work in Canada.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Analytical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to monitor and coordinate multiple moving pieces at the same time;
  • Good people skills, including tact and approachability;
  • Strong computer proficiency and aptitude with data entry software programs;
  • Commitment to building positive working relationships with senior management team, colleagues, service providers and other companies or industry associations;
  • Familiarity with restricted airport operations and/or Transport Canada aviation regulations;
  • Prior leadership or management experience an asset.
