SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Duty Manager (DM) works within the Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOCC) team. The DM is directly managed by the Operations Control Manager (OCM). During a shift assignment, the DM operationally collaborates with Owner Services (OS), the Duty Pilot (DP), and the Duty Engineer (DE) who is on shift. The primary focus of the DM is to ensure operational quality and operational control of the start-to-end process of a flight; from demand generation handover from the Owner Services Assistants (OSAs) to flight assembly by the Flight Coordinators (FCs) to flightline support by the Flight Support (FS). Equally important, the DM must maintain timely, positional oversight of the active aircraft via the published flight following procedures and alerting. The secondary focus of the DM is to ‘shift manage the floor’ by knowing all roles, ensuring team harmony, coaching, identifying and assisting personnel in need of help. At no time do these responsibilities override the authority of the Pilot-in-Command (PIC), or the Transport Canada approved Operations Manager (OM).
