POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dispatch position is responsible for the continuous and proactive monitoring and operation of multiple airport monitoring, control and communications systems across Calgary International Airport on a 24/7 basis. Using a variety of tools that range from CCTV, alarm monitoring, event dispatch and tracking systems, the Dispatcher is required to detect, analyze, interpret and react/respond accordingly to information received. They are responsible dispatching appropriate resources, monitoring and communicating/reporting event status.
As a key position within the Airport IOC, Dispatchers act as a central point of contact for airport communications by monitoring radio channels and telephone lines and operating the event management system (Perspective). Dispatchers serve as the main point of intake, dissemination and escalation of airport events and issues.
The IOC provides proactive oversight into the daily operations and seamless response to events that occur through the Airport Campus. The Dispatcher Services role is intended to streamline YYC processes and provide a more consistent, customer centric product for the airport community

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Provide campus wide support for maintenance, technology and operational needs as requested by the airport community through the IOC.
  • Proactively monitor operations; identify and mitigate risks that may impact airport customers and stakeholders or negatively impact the reputation of the Airport Authority.
  • Quickly and efficiently respond to events that occur on the Airport Campus with the intention to minimize impact.
  • Service request triage and response
  • Critical assessment of incoming incidents for appropriate escalation
  • Dispatch resources as required
  • Maintain open communications between IOC and response personnel; and
  • Provide status updates based on established operating procedures.
  • Respond quickly and correctly in the event of a threat to the security of a flight, aircraft or the aerodrome.
  • Act as a central point of contact for airport communications by monitoring multiple radio channels and phone lines; operating the Perspective System for the tracking of events; determining the appropriate responder(s) or resource to attend to an operational activity.
  • Monitor events; record event status and perform follow up actions to determine the status of incomplete events and report findings and escalate as required for appropriate follow up action;
  • Act as an ambassador of the Airport by assisting stakeholders with various queries;
  • Report all known or suspected safety concerns and/or operational concerns to the AP Duty Manager;
  • Document and report all complaints, problems, incidents, events, activities, deficiencies or concerns;
  • Maintain incident reporting systems which detail activities, events, reports, etc.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
  • Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent, however preference may be given to candidates with Post Secondary education or relevant equivalent combination of training, education and work-related experience;
  • One (1) year verifiable experience in operations centre, call centre or equivalent environment;
  • Working knowledge of CCTV, Alarm systems and other integrated computer systems as well as Incident Management Systems;
Qualifications
All applicants for this position must be:
  • 21 years of age or older
  • A Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident or Landed Immigrant
  • Have a proven and clear criminal record without any convictions or pardons.
  • Physically capable of performing all duties as set out in Job/Position Description
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Transportation Security Clearance and Calgary Airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
  • Must successfully complete all required courses and training
  • Shift work position (24/7) must be able to work all shifts and rotations, including nights, weekends and holidays;
  • Pre-employment references will be required prior to consideration for employment;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and active listening skills (English);
  • Proficient computer skills including proficiency in MS office applications; technically adept/proficient in a high-tech work environment involving the operation of multiple monitoring, alarm and communication/reporting systems;
  • High level of attention to detail and security/situational awareness and ability to identify unusual or suspicious situations/events and critical issues quickly and accurately;
  • Highly effective and creative problem solving and strong decision-making skills; ability to assess, interpret, analyze and evaluate information/situations quickly and take appropriate action;
  • Adaptable/flexible with the ability to work under pressure and multi-task in a fast paced, agile, fluctuating and demanding work environment;
  • Highly organized, innovative, resourceful, results driven, detail oriented with a strong desire to be part of a new start-up security/customer-centric team;
  • Demonstrates a high level of dependability, honesty, enthusiasm and integrity and exhibits a professional, positive and courteous manner at all times;

  • MUST TYPE AT LEAST 40 WORDS PER MINUTE
Recruitment Assets:
  • Airport Security, Operations and/or Dispatch/Ops Centre experience is highly desirable;
  • Possession of a valid Transportation Security Clearance and a Calgary Airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) is an asset for this position;
  • Possession of a valid Restricted Operator Certificate with Aeronautical Qualification (ROC-A) issued by Industry Canada for radio communications is an asset;
  • Additional languages are considered an asset.
