BCAC 2010 Conference

Airport Operations classes 11, 12 and 13 at BCAC 2010
Students from Airport Operations classes 11, 12 and 13 all had the opportunity to attend the BCAC annual conference, held this year at the River Rock in Richmond.

The conference is an important way for industry leaders and representatives to gather to discuss current issues in the aviation industry that affect airports specifically.  The conference featured several interesting discussion panels along with workshops on SMS and Airport Taxation, which support student classroom studies with current application of the issues.  In addition to this important learning, students also have the opportunity to discuss a range of topics inspired by the panel with knowledgeable industry insiders.

A BCIT highlight of the 2-day conference was the Gala Silverwings and Silent Auction dinner held on November 4.  All proceeds from the Silent Auction go toward supporting the BCAC student awards and scholarships, which benefit BCIT students such as this year's award winners Tristan Calvo, Sarah Chandra and Natalie Hanzak.

BCAC is committed to supporting students in avaiation, not only through the scholarship program, but also by giving students a free membership for one year after graduation to help ensure students connection to this vibrant community of professionals.
