Sky Regional Airlines is currently recruiting a Safety
Coordinator, Acting Position (Maternity Leave coverage of 1 year with the
possibility of extension), based in Toronto but with occasional business travel to other
sites.
Job Summary:
This
position reports to the Manager SMS & Quality and is responsible to develop,
implement and evaluates risk management policies and programs, trains employees
in occupational health and safety procedures and Safety Management Systems ,
monitors and audits the workplace, and records and investigates incidents to
ensure safe and healthy working conditions, is responsible to facilitate the
monthly Health & Safety meetings. Accountable for all Health & Safety
regulations and the administrative duties of SMS.
Major Responsibilities:
• writing internal
health and safety policies/strategies
• drawing-up safe operational
procedures
• identifying potential hazards
• determining ways of reducing
risks
• planning safe working practices and making necessary changes
•
keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety
legislation
• ensuring that equipment is installed correctly/safely
•
writing reports, bulletins and newsletters
• providing health and safety and
SMS training courses for employees and managers
• investigating/recording
incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill health
• compiling
statistics
• making recommendations following accidents/incidents
•
liaising with relevant authorities
• organising/attending health and safety
meetings
• safely handling hazardous substances
• making regular site
inspections to bases
• keeping up to date with developments within the
profession
• making presentations to groups of employees/managers.
•
assigning SMS reports to employees
• responsible for taking minutes for
Health & Safety & SMS meetings
• assigning risk levels to safety
reports
• tracking and conducting risk assessments
• tracking SMS
occurrence follow up requirements.
• responsible for preparing Health &
Safety & SMS reports and power points for meetings
• other duties as
assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities:
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong understanding of
OSH/AOSH Regulations and CARS SMS knowledge
• Excellent computer skills:
MSOffice (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access and Outlook.)
• Strong
communication skills
Education/Work
Experience
• Previous Health & Safety and or SMS experience
•
Degree or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety an asset.
