The Trail Regional Airport (YZZ) is a critical economic driver that
contributes to the long-range sustainability of the region. Thousands of people
travel via Trail for medical, business and personal trips; in order to promote
growth, the City of Trail has recently completed the purchase of the Airport
from the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary. The City of Trail is committed
to investment that will make the necessary facility and operational improvements
and build on the airport's competitive advantages.
A twice daily
scheduled commercial service operates between YZZ and YVR, providing convenient
and low-cost air transportation with connections to other destinations in
British Columbia. The Trail Airport also accommodates air charters, business and
personal aircraft, as well as the BC Air Ambulance Service.
Airport
Manager
Trail, British Columbia The newly created position of
Airport Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient
operation and growth of the airside and groundside operations of YZZ. Reporting
to the Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Trail, the Airport Manager
takes a hands-on approach to personally and through delegation to staff,
attending to planning requirements, airport operations, customer relations,
community and government relations as well as acting as spokesperson. The
Airport Manager is responsible for preparing an annual work plan and budget and
managing within the parameters of both the capital and operating budgets. The
Airport Manager is the principal point of contact with Transport Canada,
NavCanada, and other government bodies on regulatory and operational matters.
The Airport Manager will develop and recommend plans to the City of Trail to
support current and future development of the airport, consistent with the
articulated vision and mission, and provide suggested updates to reflect the
evolving nature of the business and future community needs.
The ideal
candidate is a hands-on leader who sets an example of professionalism,
dedication and excellence in customer service, people management and compliant
service delivery. You possess an ability to plan and prioritize, multi-task and
work under pressure in a dynamic environment. You have a proven ability to take
accountability for personal actions and decisions, as well as a demonstrated
ability to manage, motivate and develop staff. As the successful candidate, you
bring post-secondary training in airport management, business management or
public administration or equivalent experience, at least five years experience
working at a senior level (at least supervisory) in an airport or comparable
operations environment, and knowledge of Transport Canada Airport Guidelines
(TP312).
