The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular part-time Assistant, Airport Operations to join our team of professionals at the Langley Regional Airport.

Reporting to the Airport Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of airport airside and groundside facilities. This includes consistent administration of the preventative maintenance and safety programs established in accordance with the Airport Safety Management System. This position has overall responsibility for the efficient day-to-day operations of airport surfaces, facilities, fuel systems, aircraft tie-downs, and airport equipment. This is assumed through the effective management of resources and personnel in order to meet airport requirements and priorities. This position assists in maintaining and updating airport documents and publications in accordance with applicable operating procedures, policies and regulations.

A post-secondary education with an emphasis in airport operations and management is required.

Experience or training with airport publication amendment procedures/control is critical for this role. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in overall airport operations, including airport safety management systems, emergency preparedness and response, airport wildlife control, airport security, AVOP, issuance of NOTAMS, amendment of Canada Flight Supplement and Canada Air Pilot, and TP312 Standards and Recommended Practices. The role calls for knowledge in airport fuel handling and quality control and the expectation will be that the successful candidate has experience with and the ability to write, review, and amend required airport manuals and publications. Knowledge of NAV Canada control procedures and Transport Canada airport regulatory requirements is critical. It is also important that the chosen candidate have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as well as strong computer competency. The successful candidate will have a valid BC Class 5 (full privilege) driver’s license, a Restricted Radio Operator’s License (Aeronautical), and the ability to obtain a valid Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP). A private Pilot’s License would be an asset.

A competitive salary commensurate with experience and an excellent benefit package is available with this Exempt position. This position will work 7.5 hours a day, 3 days a week.
