This position reports directly to the General Manager, Cargo Services Ontario. 
  • The incumbent is responsible for all day of operational activities 
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of medium and long term hub strategies 
  • The MGO - Cargo provides the required resources, equipment and facilities necessary to achieve operational targets and measures. 
  • Facilitates and interacts with internal and external customers pertaining to cargo requirements in Toronto 
  • Responsible for overall service levels and customer experience 
  • Ensure day-of opportunities, constraints and recovery options are identified to all departments and that the customer impact and down line implications are considered in the decision making process
  • Act as a change facilitator for process and procedural improvement 
  • Ensure safety standards are consistently maintained 
  • Implement and direct the strategic vision to drive improved results 
  • Ensure the alignment of corporate and branch goals 
  • Provide the necessary resources, tools, and communication strategies to optimize customer service and operational performance 
  • Communicate goals, objectives, expectations and performance targets 
  • Support and recognize team and individual success 
  • Be proactive in supporting succession planning and management development 
  • Promote and manage a corporate culture of accountability and ownership 
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of corporate and station initiatives 
  • Foster an effective business relationship with external service providers and agencies such as Transport Canada, CBSA and the GTAA 
  • Analyze trends and statistics for performance efficiencies and effectiveness 
  • Review monthly expense/revenue budgets with G.M. Cargo Services Ontario and investigate variances 
  • Participate in the development of annual expense budget and CAPEX plan 
  • Drive accountability for revenue enhancement and cost containment 
  • Be recognized as a role model for leadership excellence 
  • Influence and maintain cooperative working relationships with Airports and GSE departments 

Qualifications 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement action plans that achieve objectives 
  • Proven leadership and negotiation skills 
  • Strong presentation skills with solid verbal and written communication skills 
  • Focused on continuous improvement, must be a creative and innovating thinker 
  • Excellent problem solving skills 
  • Sound understanding of the IAMAW CBA and Air Canada labour relations practices 
  • Thorough knowledge or resource management, absenteeism control and return to work programs 
  • Oversight and implementation of workplace accommodation programs 
  • Strong commitment to teamwork 
  • Must demonstrate solid operational background 
  • Good conflict resolution skills 
  • Recognized ability to work under pressure, handle stressful situations and maintain flexibility 
  • Demonstrate sound judgement, maturity and initiative
