The Vancouver Airport Authority has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Benefits & Compensation Accountant in the Human Resources Department. Reporting to the Manager, Compensation, the successful candidate will perform all accounting functions associated with the Airport Authority’s payroll processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reconciling all payroll accounts on a monthly basis
- Preparing payroll and benefits journal entries following each payroll
- Preparing the expense and capital annual salary budget, by department, during the budgeting process
- Preparing the salary forecast once the salary budget has been finalized and updating the forecast as required
- Preparing variance explanations for actual salary expenses versus budget and same period last year costs
- Processing recoveries and journal entries on a monthly basis for subsidiaries of the Vancouver Airport Authority
- Preparing information and schedules for various audits as required
- Preparing various salary, budget, financial, benefits and payroll information/reports as required
- Acting as back-up to the Payroll & Benefits Administrator and processing all payrolls when the Payroll & Benefits Administrator is unavailable (e.g., holidays, illness, training) as well as assisting during busy periods
- Attending monthly Finance Department meetings
Key qualifications include:
- Solid knowledge of accounting – senior level CGA or CMA student (4th or 5th year)
- Expert level knowledge of MS Excel
- Solid knowledge of Ceridian, Oracle, Oracle ADI and Oracle Discoverer
- Solid knowledge of payroll processing in a unionized environment, including hourly employees
- Strong customer service attitude
- Well organized
- Flexibility within a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
