AOC Airport Firefighter This position is responsible for undertaking aircraft fire rescue operations and ensuring the safe evacuation of passengers and crew, initiating fire suppression activities, carrying out fire prevention activities, performing routine maintenance of firefighting equipment, and carrying out other duties related to fire, health and safety, and security programs at the Erik Nielson Whitehorse International Airport (ENWIA). Experience structural firefighting and operating rescue firefighting vehicles Completion of Level 1 Structural Firefighter Certification NFPA1001 and NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Awareness Valid Standard First Aid Certificate with level ‘C’ CPR Incident Command System (ICS) 100 or higher Valid Class 3 driver’s licence with air endorsement or equivalent  Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered. Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability Candidates should have and may be assessed on: Able to work effectively under pressure Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Acts responsibly and applies professional judgement Commitment to safety of ENWIA employees and passengers Works well in a dynamic team environment Basic Firefighter Skills Additional Information Conditions of Employment: Valid Yukon Class 3 driver’s licence with air endorsement, Transport Canada Transportation Security Clearance (within 3 months); Restricted Radio Operator’s Licence and Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (within 1 month); Pass and maintain Airport Fitness Standard which involves a prior medical assessment; complete the Airport Firefighter Certification program. Job Requirements: Shift work, including working weekends and stat holidays, wearing a uniform provided by the department and completing an annual physical fitness appraisal.
