The Vancouver Airport Authority has permanent, full-time opportunities for Maintenance Planners in the Maintenance Services Department.  The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in making improvements to maintenance productivity by developing work plans and procedures, and by having the right jobs ready at the right time.


Key responsibilities include:
  • Planning and scheduling all work orders for the assigned crews; this will be done in collaboration with Operations in order to ensure minimal impact to the airport
  • Creating, using and maintaining plant history, and other technical files
  • Developing and reviewing work plans for maintenance jobs
  • Reviewing completed work orders for information, remarks, variances and other data; this includes following up with other departments to ensure that standards are being met on a consistent basis
  • Analyzing data that allows for the preparation of complex reports in regards to performance
  • Staging the parts and tools required for scheduled jobs
Key qualifications include:
  • Completion of a trade certification and/or completion of a technical or community college certificate or diploma in a technical field with a minimum of 3- 5 experience in a planning role.
  • Should have at least three years’ experience in a planning role at a similar facility
  • Excellent working knowledge of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably Maximo; a certificate in any CMMS is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment applied in the maintenance of a modern complex like the airport
  • Proven knowledge of large industrial equipment such as fans, pumps, boilers, emergency generator sets and their associated components
  • Ability to perform basis mathematical computations involved in estimating and purchasing
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to reach, interpret and apply information from files, drawings, manuals and reports
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
