Position
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Checkpoint Manager is responsible for managing the screening operations in the airport, including the operations related to passengers and baggage as well as managing the Screening Officers.

Job Description
* Ensures checkpoint operations are in compliance with GardaWorld financial, operational, procedures, policies and programs
* Facilitation of SOP decision making process and procedures
* Manages incidents at the checkpoint as they arise, and implements contingency and emergency procedures to maintain integrity of operations and reconcile incidents
* Monitors checkpoint performance and actively determines shift assignments and reassignment.
* Collaborates with fellow team members to provide as much support to the whole operation versus individual checkpoint
* Manages deployments and approves time records
* Develops an effective day-to-day, transactional working relationship with CATSA, Airport Authority, Union and Airlines to effectively balance and meet their requirements
* Creates a positive travel experience: ensuring customer service expectations are always met
* Monitors for consistent application of the GardaWorld employee regulations
* Addresses non-routine screening situations as they arise and acts as the point of escalation for: handling complaints, unruly passengers, special requests, explosive detection trace alarms, non-permitted items, dangerous goods, VIPs, etc.
* Represent GardaWorld and our Aviation client, C.A.T.S.A., in a professional matter at all times

Job Requirements
* Must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident as defined in the Immigration Act with an employment authorization document
* No previous criminal background for which a pardon has not been granted
* 18 years of age or older
* Post-Secondary education in related field or combination of education and work experience
* High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
* Ability to pass an enhanced security background check
* Ability to pass a medical exam
* Be able to identify colour, shapes, forms and features (e.g. X-ray images)
* Willing and able to work outside regular working hours and able to work shifts, as required
* Successfully complete the required training
Experience
* Three (3) years of experience minimum is required, can be a single field or combination of:
* Supervisory or Management
* Aviation
* Unionized environments
* Supervisory or Management
Skill Requirements
* Must have excellent communication skills; fluent in written and oral English
* French written & oral fluency is an asset
* High level of comfort dealing with a variety of customer interactions/escalations
* Effective communicator with the ability to listen attentively and maintain respectful and cooperative relationships with passengers, employees and co-workers
* Demonstrated leadership skills necessary to handle on-the-spot decisions and ability to act calmly under pressure
* Ability to work within a structured, highly regulated environment

* Internal candidates must be in good standing with no performance events on file.
