s International Airport Authority (SJIAA) is a private, not-for-profit corporation committed to creating an exceptional airport experience at Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier gateway. The airport is the second largest in Atlantic Canada and currently serves approximately 1.6 million passengers annually. Located just minutes from the St. John’s downtown core, growth is forecasted to reach 1.9 million passengers by 2020. With the SJIAA’s passenger traffic growth far outpacing the national average, today it is one of the busiest airports in Canada.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager, Security and Operational Response will ensure safe, secure and efficient airport operations and a high level of service quality for the travelling public. As a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team, this position involves the direct oversight and prioritization of departmental activities to ensure that regulatory requirements for airport security and operational activities are being met. This key leadership position will also ensure that service standards to tenants and the public are being continuously improved. The Manager establishes consultative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; contributes technical insight and leadership expertise to the business planning process and ensures the achievement of Board mandated strategic objectives that are related to Airport Security and Operational Response functions.
As the ideal candidate, you bring at least five years experience in the management of airport security, along with Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Airport Operations Management and Airport Security and/or extensive job related experience. You have demonstrated management level experience in public service or private sector security management, and you are highly capable of managing and conducting security operations including physical security, investigations, crisis management, and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and risk. You have the ability to lead a diverse team, to build strategic working relationships and to develop and manage departmental budgets. Your presentation skills are well developed, and you are a superb communicator, both verbally and in written form. Experience working in a unionized environment will be considered an asset.
