The St. John’s International Airport Authority (SJIAA) is a private, not-for-profit corporation committed to creating an exceptional airport experience at Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier gateway. The airport is the second largest in Atlantic Canada and currently serves approximately 1.6 million passengers annually. Located just minutes from the St. John’s downtown core, growth is forecasted to reach 1.9 million passengers by 2020. With the SJIAA’s passenger traffic growth far outpacing the national average, today it is one of the busiest airports in Canada.

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Manager, Human Resources is responsible for the development and implementation of employee programs and services involving recruitment, selection, retention, employee benefits and compensation, leave management, and employment practices and procedures. The Manager is responsible for overseeing the salary and benefits administration structure for employees and works closely with the Director in support of performance management, training and employee relations, as well as with the Manager - Safety and Environment in support of health and safety. The Manager, Human Resources is also responsible for the achievement of strategic objectives that are related to human resources and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team of SJIAA.

As the ideal candidate, you hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field, along with a CHRP, CHRP Candidate or a similar designation. You bring a minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in Human Resources leadership within a unionized environment, as well as a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills. Your areas of expertise include salary and benefit administration and related legislation, collective agreement administration, recruitment, training and career development, Occupational Health and Safety, disability and attendance management, policy development and performance management. Your oral and written communication and presentation skills are superb, and you have a demonstrated ability to develop strong cooperative relationships across an organization.
