Education and Experience A minimum of five years experience relating to aviation standards and practices, or other related experience. Experience in a supervisory level position. Position: Airport Manager
General The Airport Manager reports to the Director of Operations. The Airport Manager is responsible for the overall administration of the airport operation and facility maintenance. The incumbent provides technical advice to the Director of Operations with respect to capital projects and the general operations of the airport. This position involves supervisory work, which includes the performance of skilled maintenance, regulatory and program service delivery. Primary Responsibilities and Authority Human Resources, Team Management, and Leadership
• Be responsible for maintaining a working environment which includes integrity, trust and respect.
• Be responsible for the hiring, terms of employment, discipline and termination of other employees/contractors under his/her supervision.
• Plan, direct and coordinate the activities of employees for which he/she is responsible to ensure efficient utilization of personnel and resources in meeting work requirements.
Financial and Budgetary
• Assist with preparation of annual operating and capital budgets. • Approve for payment, invoices for which he/she has authorized, as per established policy. • Assist with long term capital project planning and asset management program.
Operations
• Maintain runways, taxiways, apron, graded and landscaped areas as well as crack repairs, snow removal and grass cutting to policy standards.
• Report all runway conditions to flight services. • Perform daily runway checks. • Operate and maintain airport maintenance equipment. • Operate aircraft radio equipment as per established policies during maintenance work
airside. • Maintain all airport equipment such as lighting, pavements markings and other
navigational aids. • Operation and maintenance of airport buildings including the heating, air conditioning,
plumbing, snow removal and leases. • Issue NOTAMS as required. • Be on call after hours on a rotational basis for possible call out. • Conduct investigations and submit reports on accidents or other hazardous conditions
discovered on airport property and promptly attend to all unsafe/hazardous situations.
Policy Development/Administration
• Ensure regulatory compliance with all Federal and Provincial enactments or as assigned by the Director of Operations.
• Review and recommend changes to policies and procedures which will increase airport efficiencies.
• Remain abreast of legislative and related changes affecting the airport. • Report to the Director of Operations and take direction from the Director of Operations. • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Public Relations
• Establish and maintain positive constructive relations with the public.
Position: Airport Manager
• Respond to the publics’ concerns and complaints in a timely and tactful manner, and in accordance with Town policies and bylaws.
Health and Safety
• Be responsible for the Safety Management System. • Schedule annual review of all pertinent plans and related documents. • Orient employees and/or contractors on the Safety Management System and safe work
practices • Communicate with airport users regarding safety.
Skills
