The Vancouver Airport Authority has an opportunity for a permanent full-time Coordinator, Security Operations in the Security Operations Department, reporting to the Manager, Security Operations.



Key responsibilities include: 
  • Provide management of the Access Control Office
  • Monitor and audit contractor performance  
  • Provide primary administration of critical assets including CCTV and access control systems
  • Building and maintaining positive, effective working relationships with other Airport Authority departments, air carriers, ground handlers, government agencies and other airport tenants 
  • Evaluate current operational standards, policies, procedures and processes against both regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Manage the development and implementation of security projects including capital projects
  • Provide support and information for audits conducted by Transport Canada and the Airport Authority
  • Maintain full understanding of current security legislation
  • Conduct or assist in security investigations
  • Support Airport Operations in irregular and emergency situations
Key qualifications include: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience, experience in aviation and security in the following areas:
    • Aviation regulations
    • Airport infrastructure and process as it relates to public safety, aviation security, physical security and the protection of assets
  • Knowledge of the Aeronautics Act; Canadian Aviation Security Regulations: Aerodrome Security Measures
  • Computer skills for the administration of computer programs such as: Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word and Excel; and Microsoft Windows based software (CEM, Nexitva, CCTV)
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, along with conflict resolution and mediation skills with the ability to maintain diplomacy
  • Proven organization and time management skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to provide solutions and recommendations
  • Proven ability to safeguard information in a discreet and professional manner
