Reporting to the Sr. Director Station Operations – Western Canada, the Manager, Station Operations YEG is responsible for managing safe and customer-focused operations of the Airport and leading the management team and all unionized employees providing passenger and ramp services. The responsibilities include ensuring complete, seamless and efficient customer service at the airport during regular and irregular operations in line with company business goals, plans, and policies as well as in partnership with company suppliers, partners, and appropriate regulatory authorities.
- Responsible for all customer service, ramp and safety activities and oversees all aspects of ramp operations in Edmonton airport.
- Leads a team of Management and ATS personnel as well as approximately 230 unionized employees.
- Implements policies, procedures and approaches and manages operations that ensure a customer-focused work environment where the customer is at the center of decisions.
- Determines, approves, implements, and communicates the YEG Airport Operations strategies, detailed safety and business plans, policies, organizational structure, goals, responsibilities and metrics.
- Assumes the leadership of the YEG station operations, SMS and other applicable authorities including a strong partnership with airport safety.
- Approves and allocates the YEG Airport Operations material, human & financial resources and policies for Air Canada, including costs and manpower are managed with Corporate Resource Planning within the budget’s parameters.
- Anticipates, identifies and resolves service and operational problems, with a results oriented approach to Safety, Security and Performance.
- Ensures Safety, Security and Service standards are adhered to, practiced consistently and monitored, including Emergency Response and Environmental Plans and the Station Safety Plan.
- Compliance with standards of IOSA, SMS, Official Languages Act and other applicable authorities. Ensure that on-going self-audits are conducted. Where self-audit or regulatory audit activities have revealed vulnerabilities, ensure identification of root cause and implementation of corrective measures to address them.
- Completes all individually assigned duties and responsibilities as prescribed in the Station Safety Plan.
- Works with Transport Canada and CATSA on regulatory and security related issues.
- Works with the Edmonton Airport Authority on operational, safety and environmental issues.
- Makes independent and informed decisions on operations and safety issues. Utilize employee feedback related to problem resolution to ensure a team environment and employee co-operation.
- Participates or chair varied management/union committees including Health & Safety committee.
- Identifies and pursues third party revenue opportunities. Manages delivery of third party contracts within the parameters of the negotiated service level agreements.
- Introduces and launches initiatives to generate cost savings.
- Acts as the Company representative for all schedule change and bidding activities. Work closely with individual shift committees to ensure that shift bid/implementation coincides with schedule changes.
- Acts as the designated Air Canada representative and manages relationships with the external local authorities and partners, including Transport Canada, CATSA, Workers Compensation Board and the HRDC.

- Understanding of Federal Regulations (TC, COSH, CARS)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Customer Service & Operations Management related position
