In this exciting role at our International Airport we are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated professional with proven skills, energy and attention to detail. As the Airport Operations Specialist you will bring a high degree of technical knowledge to respond to aircraft and other emergencies; perform groundside, airside, and building maintenance of the airfield and airport facilities; and ensure safe, secure and efficient airport operations in accordance with the Airport’s Safety Management System (SMS).
 
In this role you will exercise independence of judgement upon receiving verbal or written assignments from the Duty Officer, and organize work in order to meet demanding priorities. You will work within the Abbotsford Airport guidelines and budgetary limits referring complex matters to the Duty Officer.

As the ideal candidate you will have:
  • Completion of Grade 12;
  • Minimum two years’ current airside operation experience;
  • Minimum one year construction/trades experience;
  • CARs 303 and 323 training and qualification requirements related to Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF);
  • Valid BC Driver’s Licence, Class 3, with Air;
  • Restricted Radio Operators Licence;
  • Basic First Aid with CPR;
  • Ability to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operating Permit;
  • Ability to obtain Restricted Area Pass.
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $27.70 to $32.58 per hour (2015 rate) plus a comprehensive, competitive benefits package.

Please note: Auxiliary Employees are employed on an intermittent or temporary basis for the purpose of relief, replacement or increased activities. Shift work required, including evenings and weekends.
