WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? 

Our dynamic Environmental Services team is responsible for monitoring and minimizing the impact of the airport’s operations on the environment. The team is always on the go and works very closely with other departments within the organization. This team proves time and time again how hard work pays off, and like the rest of our people, they know how to have fun! If this sounds like you, then this is the perfect role for you! Here’s a few details on what you could expect in your next 8 months:

• Provide assistance to the Airport Wildlife Program Manager by:
-Conducting bird habitat and population surveys
-Specific research related to birds at airports
-Assist with the generation of monthly wildlife reports
-Assist with updating the Airport Wildlife Management Plan
• Other duties as assigned, which may include:
-Participate in the week long Mayor’s Environment Expo
-Manage inventory and stock environmental emergency supplies
-Provide assistance with the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) reporting
-Conduct inspections of petroleum storage facilities
-Assist with the inventory and disposal of hazardous materials

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

Detail-Oriented. Team-Player. Enthusiastic. You are a strong individual that is able to stay organized while balancing multiple tasks. Not only do you take pride in your work, you are willing to go the extra mile and help out a fellow team mate. You are a proactive problem solver with the desire and ability to achieve results. You have a passion for building and maintaining good working relationships. You have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, a background in Environmental Science and a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License or equivalent, subject to a driver’s abstract review. Any Previous bird identification and population survey experience is considered an asset. Note: Students must be returning to a post-secondary educational institution in the fall to qualify for this position.
